[Job - 28471] Search & Relevance Specialist, Brazil

We are looking for a Search & Relevance Specialist to validate and design complex search solutions, working with product, technology, and business leadership to define the architecture of our search platform, ensuring scalable, secure, observable, and high-performance solutions, with a focus on relevance and quality of results.

Requirements

• Practical experience as a solutions architect and/or systems architect, designing, developing, and evolving search solutions in high-complexity and scalable scenarios, using Elasticsearch (or similar technologies like OpenSearch, Solr, Lucene);
• Solid knowledge in index modeling, text analysis, relevance, and ranking, including configuration of analyzers, tokenizers, filters, boosters, security filters, and facets/aggregations;
• Experience in evaluating search quality (Search/Relevance Evaluation), defining, and monitoring metrics such as MRR, NDCG, Precision@k, Recall@k, CTR, and Conversion Rate;
• Experience in designing and executing A/B experiments and online/offline tests for comparing ranking strategies;
• Experience in creating and maintaining judgment sets (golden sets) in partnership with product and business teams;
• Practical knowledge in ranking and reranking techniques, including query rewriting, synonyms, stemming/lemmatization, spelling correction, autocomplete, and query suggestions;
• Experience in reranking results based on user signals, business rules, context, and personalization;
• Knowledge of Learning to Rank (LTR) and use of behavioral features (clicks, purchases, dwell time, etc.) for improving relevance;
• Ability to diagnose and prioritize relevance problems, identifying queries with low performance (head, long tail, navigation, exploratory search), index coverage gaps, text analysis or domain modeling failures, and opportunities for improvement in data, schema/index, ranking, or front-end integration;
• Mastery of AWS resources applicability in modern and scalable architectures, especially for search solutions;
• Mastery of software engineering techniques and processes (versioning, testing, CI/CD, code standards, documentation);
• Practical knowledge in designing and implementing distributed applications (cloud-based), focusing on availability, scalability, and fault tolerance;
• Practical knowledge in observability and resilience, including specific metrics for search systems (query latency, throughput, error rate, index update time, index freshness), logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerts;
• Good communication and relationship skills, with the ability to translate technical search and relevance topics to different audiences;
• Previous experience in scalable development environments with multiple teams consuming shared platforms.
